Chevrolet Cruze Aces Euro NCAP

As a follow up on previous coverage of the Chevrolet Cruze, the Euro NCAP test result for the Cruze is worth a look. The car performs very well. In fact, it's almost flawless!

Of course when sold in Thailand, the Chevrolet Cruze will not be as generously appointed when it comes to safety specification. Still, the platform looks extremely strong. And hopefully Chevrolet will raise the bar for this segment by offering side and curtain air-bags at least as options.

The Cruze performs better than the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla but also outshines more upmarket cars such as the Subaru Legacy, Mercedes Benz C Class, Volvo XC60, etc. Actually, after checking various test results on the Euro NCAP website, I've yet to find a vehicle that outperforms the Chevrolet Cruze on occupant safety. Impressive!

I guess that's one good reason why the Cruze is put to use as a safety car in the WTCC. This video shows a safety car (Cruze) colliding with a race car (BMW) when exiting the pits. (The car that went on fire was not involved in that.)
