2010 Mazda3 Still Years Away?
Images of the 2010 Mazda3 sedan surfaced a few weeks back. They show a car that is heavily infulenced by its big brother, the 6, while still managing to retain a sporty and youthful appearence.
When are we likely to see this car in Thailand?
The current Mazda3 is still selling well in Thailand, and thanks to the recent facelift, E20 related price reduction at the start of th year, and agressive marketing, the 3 is actually selling better now than ever.
Next, there is the fact that the Ford Focus and Mazda3 are built in the same factory and on the same platform, but Ford is usually first to move their new models under this arrangement. This means that the Ford Focus will probably be updated first.
In other markets, Mazda are set to release the 2010 Mazda3 next year, but it is likely that they will not bring the car to Thailand for at least another year.
Currently the Mazda3 and Ford Focus are imported to Thailand from the Philippines. In the next two years, Ford and Mazda are set to begin local production of the Fiesta and Mazda2 in Thailand. If Mazda/Ford could bring production of the 3 and Focus to Thailand it would also help them to be more competitive in this segment.
